Calendar of Events on Barbados |

Barbados, being a tropical country, does not have a winter season with snow and plunging temperatures, but there are some changes at this time of the year - the temperature drops a little, the breeze picks up a bit, and of course the colours of the season appear across the island in the form of flowering plants that make their presence felt at this special time of the year. The highlight of the month is the Barbados Jazz Festival which runs from January 13th to 19th. The festival, which celebrates the best in international and local jazz talent, has become a major annual Caribbean music event. This year's festival features Patti LaBelle, Freddy Cole, Spyro Gyra, Regina Belle, Marcus Miller, CeCe Winans and others! The Barbados National Trust Open House Programme gets underway with Nelson Gay, Whitehaven and Beauchamp open this month. The Barbados Horticultural Society begins
its Open Gardens Programme in January. Horticulture enthusiasts can also
enjoy hikes, visits to private gardens and gulleys, anthurium nurseries,
hotel gardens, informal talks, lunches, afternoon teas, as part of the
Barbados in Bloom - a unique horticultural experience programme. Public Holidays:
